Songs of the Soul Concert, Riverside Church August 2008

The April 25th 2008 Songs of the Soul concert in New York was a first of its kind—the very first concert dedicated to the vast musical legacy of Maestro Sri Chinmoy; the very first of 777 in which the Maestro would not perform.

To commemorate a musical legacy fathomless yet growing deeper, performers including three-time Academy Award nominated composer Philip Glass and six-time Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter Roberta Flack, joined hearts and souls, on stage and in spirit, to give a concert of a lifetime in memory of a lifetime.

The two videos added from the Songs of the Soul concert feature the international Gandharva Loka Orchestra, comprised solely of Sri Chinmoy’s students, performing two of his over 21,000 compositions: Sundara Hate and I Can Lift Up 240 Pounds.
